Starting your mental health journey can feel like a big step, but you don’t have to take it alone. In this story, you’ll see how we helped someone access the care they needed and guided them through a tough time. It’s a real example of how we make mental health care more approachable, accessible, and supportive every step of the way.
The problem.
Mary, a working mother in her early 40s, faced challenges in accessing quality mental health care. She knew she needed better support for her mental health and reached out to a First Stop Health therapist. With First Stop Health she did not have to travel or take time off from work to get care. Mary started seeing her First Stop Health therapist for anxiety symptoms with a focus on helping her be more assertive and confident. However, recent marital changes caused her anxiety symptoms to get worse and triggered a moderate depressive episode.
The solution.
Mary was able to meet with her existing First Stop Health therapist for anxiety management while gaining access to additional support. She also completed a medical evaluation with a First Stop Health primary care provider to explore whether medication might be the right choice for her. She was also informed about family and couples counseling and was able to have a couple’s counseling visit within just a few days of scheduling.
The result.
With care from First Stop Health, Mary started to regain control over her mental health. She began to feel more secure in her actions, supported in moving forward, and confident in engaging in helpful steps for herself and her family. Mary is proud of herself for getting through a tough time in her life and coming out of it stronger!
