Updated on December 23, 2024

When the sun is out, you want to get outside and enjoy the warmth. A little vitamin D is great, but be careful! Experiencing five sunburns in life can double a person’s melanoma (skin cancer) risk.

Check out the following infographic for some tips on sun safety.

BE SUN SAFE THIS SUMMER-1

Choose a sunscreen with at least SPF 30 with UVA protection. Avoid products with oxybenzone, an allergenic that is absorbed through the skin in large amounts and has been detected in breast milk. Use lotion, not spray sunscreens, as sprays can be inhaled and may not coat the skin adequately.

Use telemedicine for sunburn, swimmer’s ear, bug bites, and more.
