Dale came to First Stop Health because of a skin rash. While receiving care through virtual urgent care, his doctor recommended he see a primary care physician through First Stop Health as well. Since Dale didn't have a primary doctor, he thought it would be a good idea. Here's how Dale learned more about his health and found the support he needed.
During Dale's first primary care visit, he was able to talk with his doctor about his concerns regarding his weight. He also shared that it had been over 3 years since he last had lab work done. Since lab work is an important way to see what's going on beyond the surface, they ordered labs right away.
After his visit, Dale's labs were sent to a nearby facility. He booked an appointment and went in to get them done.
When Dale's lab results were ready, he scheduled a follow up visit with his doctor. His doctor informed him that it was important for them to work together on his BMI, high blood pressure, and high cholesterol. Based on his results, they made a plan of action that included visits with wellness specialists at First Stop Health.
Dale scheduled a visit with a registered dietitian at First Stop Health. Through his virtual visits, he was able to learn more about eating well to improve his health. Together, they decided his goal would be to modify his diet to lower his blood pressure and cholesterol. They discussed how to make healthier choices in the grocery store, meal-prepping guidance, and Dale even got a few new recipes to try out.
Dale also decided he wanted to meet with a health coach to learn how he could exercise better to lose weight. He was able to schedule with a health coach he felt comfortable with. His coach understood his desire to lose weight and was ready to get him on track! Together they made an exercise plan for weight loss. Dale checked in with his health coach 4 more times as they tracked his progress.
A few months later, Dale was feeling great! He had a follow-up visit with his primary care doctor to see how he was progressing and completed another round of lab work. Dale's results showed that he had lost 20 pounds and was making great progress with his BMI. His high blood pressure diagnosis also went down to a stage 1 risk.
Dale was happy to know that all his hard work was paying off. He was motivated to continue his health journey with his First Stop Health care team!
